Desperados 3 exterminator2/28/2024 ![]() Overall I'd pick it up if the gameplay looks like something you'd enjoy, the execution is very well done. The sequel Desperados deserved. ![]() ![]() On top of that, there is also the option of replaying some levels with special rules, which you unlock after I believe chapter 2. Each mission comes with 3 medals, one for completing the map on hard difficulty and two for level specific challenges. The game also has a LOT of level challenges, if you're into that. I don't think they'll get away with doing the same thing another time. It still makes for a very good game, but I wish they had changed more of the abilities. I think more could have been done there to innovate gameplay. put the trap/whistle combo on the big dude instead of the little stealthy one). The only thing I don't like is that many abilities on characters are taken pretty much 1:1 from their previous game, Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun, and just reordered between the characters (i.e. Desperados 3 continues the legacy of strong tactical squad games from the classic Jagged Alliance.Ģ0h PlayedVery good game, insanely full of flavour, well designed levels. But it's easy to reload and forgive the minor faults. The buggy pathfinding sometimes takes my unwitting characters into enemy territory, riddling them with bullet holes. ![]() Cameras and controls can be frustrating at times, with pause mode particularly janky. You'll find yourself playing off one character's ability against another's to form potent concoctions, and discovering the multiple methods and approaches to beating each mission. It's a run-of-the-mill storyline of revenge, but the stellar voice acting lends a distinct personality to each of the characters, from sweet-natured Hector to irascible Doctor McCoy. You observe, you try, you fail, again and again, and then suddenly one tumbler falls into place with a satisfying click, and the others quickly follow. Each area feels like picking a difficult lock. Still, Desperados 3 is unadulterated fun. Desperados 3 suffers a little from this, as each mission completion screen shows unearned badges for unmet - and previously unstated - objectives. When game developers focus too much on replayability, it can detract from the experience of the first playthrough. 16 levels mean there’s tons of hours here. Though not every enemy needs to be killed to reach the objective, levels when spedran still take 20 or more minutes and many levels taking 45 mins to an hour and a half. You are rewarded with stars if you do optional challenge objective specific to the map such as so many environment kills or not using a certain abilities or completing a harder objective first or speed running which all add to the replay ability of the game. The levels and objectives tend to be pretty open ended on how you achieve them though you’re pulled generally in the path of least resistance. The story is common fare of a western though well written and voice acted. And an alarm sounded would be certain death. A lot of the game is spent looking for the perfect way in or weakness in their patrols to pull off the attack undetected after all its about 2 to 5 vs 40-70 enemies. Furthermore the level design was done so carefully to give you multiple ways to complete each mission. Every characters abilities were well thought out and balanced so all 5 characters were used rather evenly. These are all coordinated to create the perfect combo to take out the baddies, for example, in an ally and off the rooftops in the same breath. These variables may determine how you plan your attack and where and how it’ll take place and with which characters using which gear and abilities. Additionally they all have have limitations and inabilities when it comes to speed, stealth takedowns, or ability to climb or swim complicating who you can take into a particular area to plan your attack. Each character has their own special abilities such as possession of an enemy, disguise, sniper, healing, quick takedowns, etc. You lure, distract, quick takedown into the shadows, evade, range kill, or go loud when appropriate and the noise is contained are all actions you can use to clear an area. Gameplay consists of studying enemy patrols and movements and seeing whom can see what and where blind spots are to plan your attack. When I first was reading reviews for this game and hearing about spending upwards of 30 min meticulously planning a perfect takedown of a group of baddies before moving forward it seemed off putting but having the game in your hands and pulling it off is very satisfying. Iphone xs for honor wallpaper2/28/2024 ![]() Yes, it’s a minor thing to have to do, but it builds up over time. No more having to move my hand to position my thumb onto the sensor. Oh, I need to log in again? Wait a second while my face is scanned, and presto! I’m in. It’s especially annoying when you have to pivot your grip to position a thumb onto an in-display fingerprint scanner. Yeah, they’re secure, and logging in shouldn’t be simple, but when you need to log into your manager several times because it used the wrong details, that can be frustrating. In my experience, using password managers can be … testing, to say the least. Not only is it fast, but it also works in the dark, and it works for secure apps - and that was a game changer by itself. I did, actually, use it on my Samsung Galaxy Note 20 because, well, the fingerprint scanner on that phone was terrible. I’m not speaking from ignorance here, either. It’s also way better than all other facial recognition systems out there. Face ID is fast, smooth, and oh-so efficient. Why would Face ID be any different?Īs much as I hate to admit it, there’s definitely a sprinkle of Apple magic here. My Android phones have had facial recognition since the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini, and it’s rarely been central to my use. After all, I’ve been dabbling with facial recognition on smartphones for years. I didn’t think Face ID would be all that impressive. Face ID is incredible Andy Boxall / Digital Trends And that would be true if there wasn’t one feature so exceptional that I can’t believe it’s taken so long for Android to catch up with it. As such, you might expect I’m chomping at the bit to get back to an Android handset. It’s fair to say my time with the iPhone 15 hasn’t been all sweetness and honey. It should be more than capable of running an always-on display, but for some reason, it just … doesn’t. I’m not a huge fan of “current year” arguments, but is this really acceptable in 2023? If it was an LCD panel, I could understand it from a technical standpoint, but the iPhone 15 has an OLED display. The fact a $799 flagship smartphone doesn’t include an always-on display is absolutely shocking. Some other elements of the phone aren’t terrible, but I don’t like them. The iPhone 14 Pro Max has an always-on display. I missed a lot of important notifications because iOS made the bizarre decision to send them to the shadow realm like they’d lost a children’s card game. On the bright side, my time with the iPhone 15 did cure me of my notification-clearing ways, but that’s because they tended to disappear, only to be found much later. And that’s really horrible because they’re horrendous. Without the benefit of a custom launcher, you’re stuck with that notification system until Apple decides to give you something better. That isn’t the case where the notifications are concerned. I didn’t change from Apple’s default keyboard because, hey, I’m submitting myself to iOS in all its glory - but you can change the keyboard to something better. Seriously, iOS fans, does Apple have some collective dirt on you all that’s forced you to accept this clearly substandard keyboard? I used the keyboard a lot, and it never stopped being a chore. Apple fans, level with me: Is the keyboard some sort of celestial punishment? The autocorrect is so overactive that I suspect a curse is to blame because there’s no way it’s been left this bad on purpose, right? Having to shift keyboard modes to find a comma is becoming familiar, but I don’t think it’ll ever stop feeling hideously clunky. The iPhone 15 is an incredible phone, which makes the really bad elements of the phone baffling. However, some design choices are just … well, I’m sorry, iOS faithful, but they’re just bad. Granted, some of this is because I’ve been using Android for so long, and iOS is similar enough to what I know that coming across differences is jarring. ![]() There are several design choices in iOS that simply do not work for me. A lower-rise sock won’t give you the kind of support you need for a full 12-18 hour shift, but a knee-high graduated compression sock should be just perfect. Because compression socks need to be tight for maximum effectiveness, nurses might find an over-the-calf compression sock to be most effective for long shifts.
